Bad side effects from Humira

Has anyone else experienced long lasting severe side effects from Humira. It has basically ruined my life. I have Lupus from it, liver damage, psoriasis, growth (removed surgically) grew back, latent TB, constant migraines, growth in jaw and I could go on and on. Lupus is as bad if not worse than Crohn's and I know many others with similar problems after being on Humira.

Wow. So sorry you have all that going on. Crohns is bad enough without adding all that on top of it. Only side effects I have had from humira is fatigue.

Yeah, fatigue is miserable. I have it too. My problem is that I can't treat anything because of my liver damage. I can't take anything for the Lupus or Crohn's without getting rid of the TB, it's a no win situation. However, I have heard of people who are worse off than myself after using Humira, so I guess it could be worse. I was just wondering how others are faring taking it. You never think it will happen to you and the warning is that it's suppose to be a Lupus that goes away, well mine sure hasn't and isn't going to.

I experienced lupus symptoms while on remicade and cimzia. Humuria gave me severe headaches so I never made it past starter doses but it seems i just cant tolerate any of them. I can sympathize with the side effects from treatment being worse than the disease. I always felt like I was poisoning myself with those shots. I recently tried to restart cimzia after stopping for surgery and it was impossible. Fatigue and joint paint so severe I was in a panic but it seemed to decrease slowly after about a week. I quickly started big dose of prednisone after going off cimzia because I was so sick so I'm not sure how much that is covering up (its my temporary fix for now). I worry how much long term damage I'm doing to the rest of my body. I'm 33 and falling apart.

Well my daughter is starting Humira this week. I really hope she doesn't face these things. Sorry you are going through this. With my kids severe crohns Humira is our only option now so I have to jut hope that the side effects are minimal.

crohn'snme did you/ are you taking other meds? Did you notice anything with the combination if so?

I've only been on it since June, but I haven't had anything like that happen. Just tired after the shots, an the occasional headache the next day. Nothing bad really at all. Sorry that you're having to go through all of that. They are probably going to be upping my dose next month to a shot every week though, since I haven't responded well enough yet.

Read Read Read Knowledge is the best defense, the brochures that come with the drugs are the first thing to tackle. Then the internet. If anything questionable happens the GI's office.
Remicade worked for me for awhile and then the side effects. 15 months later and still not right.

Just remember the office staff can help get answers when the doctor is busy. I treat them like gold, a precious resource.

Thanks QuestionEverything. I feel like that is all I read anymore is crohns this & crohns that. Would love to know what a fiction novel looks like. Right now I would really like a non-fiction about people that get cured of this stupid disease!

Sorry to hear how much you have suffered by being on Humira only problem I had was I kept getting infections & abcesses while on it didn't do anything for the crohns x
