It's been a while since I've had to collect stool for testing...I was thinking about collecting it in one of those large plastic "party type" cups and lining the inside of the cup with saran wrap even though I'd be using a brand new cup...do you think that will work ok?  I don't want to line the toilet with saran wrap because I don't want any urine to contaminate the stool (as mentioned in the directions for collecting) and I often pee while pooping.

Anyone have any better suggestions of how to collect it?

I used tin foil and lined the back half. It was stiffer and made a lot less mess.

If your doc can give you a plastic "hat" that works really well. When I use saran wrap, I put it farther back on the toilet, so it catches the stool instead of the urine. I try to urinate first and hold back the stool. I don't think a little urine contaminates it that much. I hate having to collect stool...another necessary evil of our very unsexy disease!

I have used a small plastic container, like a soup takeout, that I can throw away when finished.

I use a disposable aluminum pie pan.

Wow, you guys are good!!!!!! I just ended up using one of those plastic party cups and that worked ok except I hated holding it behind and under me, it was a bit awkward....

gumby, the instructions were very specific about not allowing any urine to touch the stool or it would ruin the test...they're too picky lol! I use to have one of those plastic stool collection containers you're referring to but lost it during our move a couple of years ago.
