Does anybody have a suggestion how to stop recurrent colds

Are you sure you don't have allergies? I get sore throats from the nasal drainage running down the back of my throat. That drainage also causes a cough. Anyone that has recurrent cod symptoms needs to be tested for allergies.

Have you tried an over the counter antihistamine like Claritin, Zyrtec, or Allegra? Does one of those clear your symptoms? Just food for thought.....

Other than that, wear gloves when out never touching a public access surface, just hand sanitizer, and wash your hands frequently. You could also wear a mask....

zinc, vitamins B-12 and D3 or you could try something like Cold EZ (sp)

Itchiness in my throat usually only comes with allergies. If Claritin doesn't work, could you maybe try prescription allergy meds to see if that helps?

A few years ago I was getting constant sore throats, it ended up being Crohn's in my throat. Went away when I landed myself in the hospital with a bad flare. The IV steroids seem to take care of it.

I woke up today with a cold, first one while being on Cimzia. I just did my shots yesterday too, wouldn't have had I known I was gonna get sick. Not going to be a fun week for me! :(

@ Scifigal, I tried something different today: fexofenadine hydrochloride. Hope it kicks in quickly.
@ Ides. May be I was not clear in my post; all I needed are home remedies as I know we are not doctors. I'm trying to drink a lot of fluids and take lozenges. I developed fever and greenish mucus and took paracetamol as I'm reluctant to call my GI. He seems to be a weirdo and unlike other GIs yet I feel more comfortable w him. Last time, I could hardly convince him to refer me to someone else when he was travelling and he reluctantly accepted to let me take his assistant's phone number to call her when he's abroad. He mentioned that he knows that I have a lot of complications and it's not easy for any other doctor who is not familiar w the case to deal w it. Actually, the GP, whenever I consult her, she asks what does he normally give you in such a situation. Also, when I got the perianal abscess and the CR surgeon insisted on lancing it, I kept procrastinating until my GI returned and he put me on ABX then and it got resolved. I'm not defending him. He is the best I could find after 7 years and he is understanding and ready to help whenever I need him. Others think it's IBS as my scope pics don't show anything, but he witnessed all the flare ups I have been through till now. I think I wrote this earlier so I don't want to be repetitive
I'm not offended since I owe HW a lot and owe you a lot. I learnt a lot of meds and ways to deal with this dd through HW. This doesn't mean that I take all what it is suggested to me for granted. I'm trying to be eclectic and try to select pieces of advice that would work w me since we are different in our response to both the disease and meds.
@ Jen. Not sure whether it's Crohn's or not but the recurrence of this soreness is worth investigating. I know that the source of sinusitis is not allergy but GERD. Could be, who knows. Hope you feel better soon :)
@ Myself09. I already took the flu shot last autumn. I regret doing this as it irritated my GERD then and I keep having colds. I know it is not supposed to prevent colds but last year I did not come down w a single cold after I took it. May be a coincidence.

I'm with JaSanne on the gargling with salt water...My Mom always used this with us and I swear by it.  I also am keeping a humidifer around me all the time.

I have permanent fluid in my ears (only clears up when on pred) and a drippy sinus all the time.  I have a hard time with most allergy meds...so I started using a non addictive nasal spray (Nasalcrom) and a spray bottle of saline alternately.  It really has helped.

It could also be post nasal drip brought on by allergies. I had this problem last year and oral meds like Claritin did nothing. However, NasalCrom (a nose spray) worked wonders.
