Has anyone else here tried ginger root? I tend to shy away from any miracle cure supplement out out on the web..snake oils I call them...
However, I did read about the anti inflammatory properties in ginger root so I decided to try it in the form of pure ginger root tea. I called my dr to make sure it was ok and he said go for it and I have to say three days in I am feeling the benefits. Less cramping and diarrhea and definitely less inflammation. I can actually feel the effects on the inflammation as soon as I drink the tea. Hopefully long term this will really help in conjunction with my meds. My dr did give me some tips on ginger root. Make sure it is 100 percent ginger root and no other additives for best benefits. Also he suggested adding honey if I need to sweeten it (trust me you WILL need to sweeten it) over sugar because of honeys bacteria fighting properties. You can locate the pure ginger root tea at any health store or a store called the vitamin shoppe if there is one near you. It also comes in supplement form but I find the coating of many supplements bothers me.
Just thought I would put it out there as a compliment to what your dr has you on. Success may be dependent on your level of crohns. I am mild so that may be why it works so well for me.
There are some noted interactions with medications such as warfarin and a few others so you may want to check with your dr before taking.
