It's been a while since I've connected with you all as I have been going really well smilewinkgrin .  Am on Remicade every 8 weeks (cannot get it sooner in oz), as well as Imuran.  Have started to get debilitating pain in joints over last two months.  Had an infusion yesterday, but woke up this morning and can hardly move my hands, wrist and fingers.  Sometimes in shoulders, elbows, knees etc, but always symmetrical.  GI is referring me to a Rhuematologist - sometime - but concerned that after infusion, still have these aches.  Anyone out there with this experience??  How was it managed and was it successful?  So over it.  Can't even open a bottle of water.

DX - Crohn's 1995, 3 x fistulas, no bowel ressection, 14 x abscess drainage.

Are you getting any antihistamines or steroids when you get your remi infusions? It seems that sometimes remi can cause this joint pain.

You could be having a reaction to the Remicade (as kazbern pointed out). I have enteropathic arthritis and for me, the symptoms are very similar to RA. I've been tested for the RA factor and am negative; my ANA is always positive. If the Remicade is controlling your CD, I wouldn't think that it's the disease related arthritis. It sounds more like a reaction.

Hi JaSanne and kazbern.  I do get antihistimines and steroids before the infusion.  Have never had this reaction before.  GI seems to think it is related to CD - but suppose Rhumatologist will diagnose officially.  But agree, if the CD is being controlled doesn't make sense that arthritis would be related.  Maybe something new all together.  Anyway, going to fight another battle.  Hands have settled a bit today, but now elbows are painful.  Am taking anti-inflammatories (Mobic - least likely to cause tummy upset) and Paracetomol Osteo.  Want to stay clear of steroids.  Won't let it get me down very much.  Cheers
