Optimum Time to Blood Test For Remicade Levels?

OK so I'm now taking a 6 day Medrol pack for a possible Crohn's flare.
1.5 years ago I had a blood test to measure the level of Remicade in my bloodstream and
that test was done exactly 1 month after the infusion. Now, a different Gastro Doc
wants to test that level a week BEFORE my next infusion, which is 11 weeks after my last one
(I get them every 12 weeks, which has worked for me for over 2 years).

Also, how should the results be interpreted? Does a high level mean the Remicade is working
in the body but not controlling the Crohn's? Does a low level mean I have developed antibodies
and the drug is no longer working, or does a low level mean the Doc will want to increase the
dosage or frequency? Thanks

I don't know about the time frame for when you should be getting the testing. The test will look for antibodies and look at the levels in your blood. I think it sounds good to test right before your next infusion to see if the levels are running out too soon, indicating that you may need to up the frequency. If you have developed antibodies you may need to find another medication. They say adding 6MP to your regimen may decrease the likelihood of developing antibodies and make the Remicade more effective. Good Luck!
