New Diagnosis

This is my second post on here. My diagnosis is tentatively Crohn's but my surgeon is sending my colonoscopy and gastroscopy test results to another doctor in Hamilton for a second opinion. He was not 100% certain that my fistula is a fistula. Is it possible to have a bowel obstruction last month; and before that 8 yrs ago; and not have Crohn's? I'm over weight(unfortunately) constipated and energetic. I work 12 hr days 5 days a week. I'm keeping my nutrients unlike the usual Crohn's patients. However, I did present to the ER with a bowel obstruction and severe dehydration.

It is possible to have a bowel obstruction without Crohn's, but it's not exactly a normal event. Something had to cause it, either a mechanical obstruction or paralysis of the intestines (ileus). Either way, I'd be wanting to know what caused it.

It would be unusual to have two bowel obstructions 8 years apart in Crohn's, but it's not beyond the bounds of possibility. People can go into spontaneous remission with any drugs. If you turn out to have a fistula, that massively increases the likelihood of Crohn's.

Incidentally, it's not a rare thing for Crohn's folks to be normal or even over weight anymore.

I think you mean cecum (pronounced "see - come"). Best wishes for an accurate diagnosis. Inflammation in the cecum and no where else sounds like Crohn's.
