Cold sweats - ugh

Does anyone else get cold sweats? I'm not sure if it's a norco thing (or dilaudid because it happens in the hospital, too), or a CD thing. But it's not at night - it's the middle of the day, at the same time each day. Twice actually, like at 11a and then again at like 4p.

At first I thought it was because I was too hot, so I would turn on the fan, the AC, etc. One time I had the hospital room at 60 degrees and felt freezing, but I was sweating so badly I would soak through my clothes. It's been going on for over a month now.

I found that when it starts, if I bundle up with a heating pad and the fireplace, I actually sweat less but it's still there and it lasts about an hour. It now happens every time I get cold. I freeze and get chills, but I sweat so badly I just soak through my clothes. When it happened in the hospital one night (my IV infiltrated and it took 36 hours to get another one, so I had no pain meds cold turkey after 2 mg IV dilaudid every 3 hours for 8 days), I soaked through three nightgowns and sheets, and my body temperature crashed all the way to 95.7.

I thought it was fever related or something, but I don't have a fever when it happens. If anything, my body temperature gets lower, unless I get all bundled up.

Does anyone else experience this or have any thoughts? Even my legs will be soaked through the clothes. My back and neck, too. And it's not like I'm extremely overweight or anything.

I got cold sweats when coming off Oxycodone. That wretched drug messed up my skin for months; even now, it is not what it was. That said, any skin problems I have now might be down to my thyroid; I'm not sure. I get times where my very bones seem to be chilled to the core, but no fever or sweats - just chills.

If there is no fever, then it doesn't sound like a Crohn's thing. You also tend to run cold then hot with a fever; first you get the chills as the temperature rises, but then after that you start to feel too hot. I'm virtually certain it's the pain meds. Unfortunately, for as long as you're on the meds, I don't think there's much you can do about it. Maybe somebody else will be able to suggest something... :-/

I occasionally get night sweats the past 3 months. I attributed to this stubborn crohns flare. I have a thick comforter that I use then kick off the bed several tines a night.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciated the input. I played around with the Norco timing, and it didn't seem related. I've been trying to snack more throughout the day and it's helped a bit, but it still happens really badly anytime I get the tiniest bit cold. I will start sweating like crazy and be soaked in minutes.

My PCP actually thinks it's hormonal, so she's going to have me do some blood tests. She suggested it might even be peri-menopause, which would be a bit sad since I'm only 27 and was hoping to have more children than just my daughter.

I get drenching sweats with flares - I'm not sure why but it's notable and one of the ways I know I'm flaring rather than just a regular stomach upset.

I think it's good they're doing testing, but I would push back on the "it must be hormonal" explanation due to your age.
