I feel like something is very wrong and I am moderately
terrified to find out what it is based on my knowledge of and experience with
this DD. I have a colostomy and have been in my first flare since the surgery
for the last year-ish. Recently, I thought I was experiencing constipation so I
added a stool softener to my pill regime, but now I think something more is
wrong.
I have been going days without output and then, I will
experience severe nausea after eating. Yesterday, I was in the ER for a corneal
ulcer and staph infection (woo hoo!) and they gave me some graham crackers. I
ate ONE cracker and got nauseated. I thought it was related to the antibiotic
they had just given me. I later ate some lunch and became so nauseated I ran to
the bathroom and had a ton of spit and goo come up, but no actual vomiting. about two-three hours after eating, I experienced
severe abdominal distention and pain. At
that point, I had to use my hands to physically move the stool out of my stoma.
Pushing hard will cause evacuation of both formed and liquid output. The
cramping and nausea was really bad. This is the third time this has happened in
about as many weeks. I have also been having other weird symptoms such as
extreme body temperature changes- boiling to freezing in a second, and cold
sweats- mostly at night. I feel like it might all be related but I have no
idea. I have a call into my GI but I’d like some insight.
