ridiculous article on 'IBS'

Has it been edited/corrected? Judging by the comments section, where people ripped it for confusing IBS and IBD, it has been changed.

It must have been.....it used to define IBS as "people with Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis."

Can somebody who read the article before it was corrected tell me where IBD was mentioned? The patient specifically wrote irritable bowel syndrome and not IBS. How could the doctor have messed that one up? Absolutely shocking.

That's the point - IBD was never mentioned. It said, "People with IBS, who those diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease....."

But if you look at the article now, it doesn't mention UC or Crohn's disease. Obviously it was corrected at some point, but it's bad form not to have an editor's note saying that the article had been corrected: another thumbs down for Fox News/Dr. Manny.

IBS-D = diarrhea

IBS-C = constipation

IBD = inflammatory bowel disease.

Food is pushed through the intestinal tract more quickly when you have IBS-D

If the  intestinal muscles contract but don’t relax again, or they contract very slowly the result is IBS-C .

I did not see the article before today.

Yes, they edited it and totally changed the content. And, yes, it's really bad form not to have an editor's note. But like was said above, it's Fox News, not exactly a good place to go for health info.

I have seen ridiculous health news reports on every news outlet. Let's face it. The news outlets can't be trusted for health news or any other kind of news.

Ugh, massive face palm! Not the first time I've seen this sadly though. How can we expect people to be knowledgeable about what we have when the news outlets can't even get it right.
