Okay, so I was diagnosed with Crohn's about
2 years ago. I'm currently on humira and in "remission"...although i would use that word loosely.
I was doing pretty well for about
6 months controlling with extra meds - bentyl and lomotil.
The problems started about
a month ago, when I started having pretty bad diarrhea (5 times a day w/o meds), stomach discomfort, excessive gas that just sat in my stomach, and just generally feeling unwell. This started about
a week before my finals (im in college) so I figured it was due to stress. However, this went on past my finals and into my summer break.
I contacted my doctor and he was very concerned, probably thinking that I was flaring, which I was worried about
too. He ordered a CBC and CRP to see if there was any inflammation as well as 4 tests for any infections (c. diff, parasitic infections, etc).
All the tests came back completely normal, and I had felt better for about
two days when I found out the news. My doctor said he thought it was just a bug or something (although 2 weeks seems excessively long for most stomach bugs).
The problem now is that after those 2 days, I'm now not feeling well again, back with the diarrhea, stomach cramping, can't eat, etc. I don't want to pry my doctor, but I really feel like something else is wrong.
So my question is - what do you think could be going wrong that wouldn't show up in the tests that I had done?
My humira has been taken every time except for a month and a half/two months ago when one dose was delayed by two days because it wasn't delivered on time. The company told me this would not affect my schedule, but I was wondering if that's a possiblity. However, this would be a pretty long time to still be not back on track.
The other thing is, it seems to get worse the days leading to my dose of humira, but this was never the case before. PS - I've tried pepto bismol, gas pills, probiotics - NOTHING is working.
Please help, I'm supposed to be going back to school for summer classes tomorrow, and I hate starting classes not feeling well!!
