My journey of finding the cause of my foot pain led me to another orthopedist. More than a month ago, I woke up all of a sudden unable to step on my right foot. Saw an orthopedist then who suspected necrosis and hammer's toe. I had an MRI and again he saw synovitis which is found in rheumatoid arthritis and foot edema.
When I told my GI about this diagnosis, he ordered rheumatoid arthritis tests and asked another radiologist to read the MRI.
The tests came out negative and the radiologist said the MRI was normal.
Still I had the same foot pain. So, my GI referred me to another orthopedist. I saw him yesterday.
He discovered that the joint below my ankle has become deformed. This makes my foot unable to bear my weight. I asked him whether long-term use of pred was the cause but he said it's inconclusive.
He suggested I put insoles and wear walking shoes for long distances. He also prescribed a cream and celebrex twice which I decided not to take as I do already have non-stop d and am not ready for any flare ups these days.
I asked about change of my Crohn's meds as that was my GI's concern but he said no need. He was not sure of the cause though he is one of the most experienced orthopedists we got. He even told me to get back to him once I feel pain again or if it persists.
Did anybody have a similar experience? Should I accuse steroids esp that I'm on long-term use of Entocort at the time being or let it go?
