chances of side effects from humira?

hi everybody, was just wondering what the chances of getting one of the side effects listed for humira are?. every time the stupid commercial for humira comes on they list every freakin horrible side effect and it really bothers me. i dont get why drug companies are allowed to promote there medicine like its a candy bar. its kinda hard to hear when you actually take the medicine there blabbing about, its quite inconsiderate and uncomfortable to hear when theres people i know listening too. sorry im ranting, it just infuriates me when they make a medicine out to be a miracle drug and then list 500 side effects.

When they do the trails of these medications, any and all issues reported by patients have to be reported. Doesn't matter if it was 100% related or not, they have to list it. Could be a one in a million chance, and might not even be related to the medication at all. Also, the pharmaceutical companies are trying to cover their butts.

I've often heard it said that if they tried to release aspirin as a new drug today, it likely wouldn't get approved.

There are risks with anything you put into your body, put on the outside, or even be in proximity to. Try not to focus on the risks, but instead take a look at the benefits. I took Remicade for about 8 years, and I've been on Humira for about 4. If I hadn't taken these drugs I'd probably have had a lot of my guts removed and would have had a very poor quality of life.

…and honestly, I'd be more concerned about Prednisone than Humira. I've had all kinds of issues with the steroids.

Everything has risks, some of the serious meds (bios like Humira) have more risks than others. It sucks that we have to make these choices, but you can't make an informed decision without all the information. Unfortunately, there aren't many laws against advertising medications as if they were blue jeans (that I know of), so the companies are allowed to make their drug seem like an ant-less gourmet picnic on a sunny day in paradise without any repercussions re how that might be false advertising. They, do, however, have a responsibility to report adverse reactions, reported issues, and tell you that it could potentially kill you (though instead of "you could croak" they say somehting like "sometimes fatal reactions"). I'm glad they have to say those things, helps people to understand that making the decision to take the med probably wasn't easy.
