Hi my 11 yr old has been on Humira since April, weekly injections, and he is still having a lot of stomach pain and arthritis pain. He has Crohn's and Arthritis.
Last week's injection caused him to develop 2 hives. 7 cm long on both legs. is this normal?

Welcome to Healing Well! I take it these hives are not injection site reactions since there were two. Having hives is a sign of an allergic type reaction which I don't consider normal. You definitely need to notify the doctor prior to his next injection. He might suggest premedicating with something like Allegra or Zyrtec.

A bigger concern to me is that he hasn't seen improvement in his arthritis or Crohn's symptoms since he has been on it over 6 months. A conversation with the doctor about his lack of progress would be a good idea.

Again, welcome and please let us know what the doctor says.

Thank you. I did call the doctor and they only said to Ice it. Really, like I would not of known what to do, which I did and Benadryl, 5 days later when I got a call back.
we feel it is time for a change as well. Thinking Orencia? any one has any suggestions I appreciate it. My son is 11 with Arthritis as well. Too much pain for a little dude,. On such heavy drugs and no results . I asked to change in Sept. but both doctors felt he was doing better. He, my son or I don't
