Hi everyone,
I've been on healingwell for years now for lyme disease...turns out that the GI symptoms I've been having for 2+years are most likely crohn's, according to the first of 6 GI specialists to finally do a colonoscopy and some bloodwork, apparently I'm full of ulcers in the small intestine and have a couple of crohn's suggestive markers in my bloodwork. Weird part is even though I have pretty terrible pain and bloating and other symptoms, I don't really have diarrhea...
Anyway...
My doctor wants me to follow the specific carbohydrate diet...just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on that? It's pretty similar to the way I eat now (only I tend not to follow the lack of processed stuff as strictly as i should because it's obviously really difficult) - only real difference is that I normally eat rice, quinoa, and potatoes (no wheat though).
I'm specifically wondering if anyone has any insights on this diet labeling mucilaginous herbs "illegal" - I get the theory being that they feed bacteria and that the mucus would prevent absorption, but at the same time I've always relied on these herbs to soothe my system when the pain gets pretty bad...just very confused!
Any insight or information would be greatly appreciated...I'm new to all of this and just want to get back on track!
