Hello ally5531.
I don't quite agree with what the others have said. Your descript
ion of symptoms fits Crohn's, but also could be IBS. Or perhaps something else entirely. No one can diagnosis you over the Internet, though we can relate to you our own experiences.
The fact that you are running a fever could indicate an abscess or fistula. I had that long ago when I was first diagnosed with Crohn's. The fever was "low-grade," meaning it would never get too bad. It would fluctuate a bit up and down, sometimes going away but soon returning. Cramping that would come and go was certainly one of my symptoms. Eating was very difficult - I could barely eat at all.
It took a long time (9 months) for me to get a diagnosis. I kept getting bowel obstructions (and thus a trip to the emergency room) every time I ate too much, drank coffee, ate hot peppers, etc. I learned to more or less give up eating. Eventually I had exploratory surgery, which was when stenosis (obstructions) were discovered, and the stenosis tissue contained fistulas. Removing the stenosis (and thus the fistulas) got rid of the fever permanently.
Of course, I could be wrong and maybe your fever is being caused by something else entirely. The list of illnesses that cause fever is longer than your arm. Obviously, I cannot make a diagnosis, as I'm not a doctor and even if I was, it would still take tests to determine the problem.
I do agree with the suggestion that you should get scoped if this problem continues. Another alternative is a barium swallow x-ray. I know it's a bummer, but you've got to get the tests to find out if you have Crohn's.
Keep us informed, and best of luck,
Oz
