I have been on Azathioprine for 2 months, I've have been getting sores or ulcers under my tongue. Is this normal? I have tried warm salt water, but it doesn't help. I am generally not prone to cold sores, but since being diagnosed with Crohn's I have a few always under my tongue. Any help would be appreciated.

Cold sores are common with Crohn's disease, so it might be the Crohn's and not the medication, but you should check with your doc. If you make a mixture of Maalox and liquid benadryl and swish it on your sore it may help you feel better.

At this point I'll try anything. I have read that B Complex or Lysine vitamins may help. I'll let you know how it turns out thank you so much!

If the mouth sores happen after you started the medication it could be a side effect. Might check it out with your doctor and see what side effects are expected for the drug. If you stop the medication and the sores go away then start the medication again and the sores come back you will know it is the medication. Medications have side effects and they are different for all of us. Best to ask your doctor about
side effects before starting a medication so you are aware of what may happen.
