Hi I have crohns disease and I was on humira for the first 3 months of my pregnancy and then I stopped till I gave birth. Now, a week after I gave birth I see my crohns symptoms returning. Can I continue taking my regular doses of humira now even though I stopped for a while?

I'm on Humira too but I have no idea what the answers are to your questions, definitely sounds like something your GI should be discussing with you though...I'd be asking him/her first since it's likely everyone's GI here might have a different opinion of what exactly would be best in your particular situation.

Definitely check with your GI. My doc says the problem with stopping the Humira for too long and then starting it again is it can lose its effectiveness. She doesn't want me stopping it beyond 2 weeks for upcoming surgery for this very reason. I have also heard you could also potentially develop an allergy if stopping and restarting, but not sure if that is true. Congrats to you on baby! I had a little one last summer and at the 6 week mark my immune system hit a tailspin and hasn't stopped yet. I didn't manage my crohns prior to pregnancy, started flaring during, and then it all snowballed out of control after. I hope you can get back on the Humira if it worked for you!
