Hb level rose only 0.4 gram after 3 infusions of iron sucrose

I got my CBC test results and it showed that my Hb level was elevated only 0.4 grams after 3 infusions of a total of 9 ampoules. When my GI saw this, he decided I have to take subcutaneous epoetin alfa. I reminded him that I took it before and it only elevated my Hb to a 0.2 gram. So, he put me again on other 3 doses of iron sucrose. My Hb is 10.9 now but the other indices: hematocrit, MCV, MCH and MCHC are very low. I still have the symptoms of anemia. What could be the cause of this slow absorption of the iron infusions? I can't figure it out.

GP told me it's all caused by Imuran. It works on the bone marrow and interfers w the production of WBCs, RBCs and platetets.

Has he checked Ferratin levels?
Take vitamin c to help absorb and avoid calcium which inhibits it's absorbtion.

Dikid, I checked w my GI about taking vitamin C esp. that I have chronic gastritis and GERD and can't take any vitamin C and he said the iron sucrose injections go directly into the bloodstream and are not abdorbed in the stomach.
