Swollen feet, guessing from steroid use.

I've been off steroids for about a month now (yay!!). But I was on them for a very long time, pretty much constantly over the last 3 years. Very few weeks in between where I'd taper off then go back on.

Anyway my feet have been swollen for a long time. My doctor said it was water retention from steroids. My feet hurt when I walk. I kinda thought by now it would start to go down. Maybe it just takes more time?

It takes about a year for the adrenal glands to return to normal after a long period of time on steroids - and 3 years would certainly count as a long period of time. I dunno about swollen feet specifically, but I would expect the post-pred weirdness to carry on for a while longer yet.

If you can help it, try taking off your shoes at home/work/wherever. Your shoes probably aren't accustomed to swollen feet and will only exacerbate the pain.

Thanks everyone. That's what I figured, I'm impatient, I want it all gone now. lol When I see my doctor I will bring up water pills, maybe see if that can help things along. Just hope I can stay away from the steroids for a very long time.
