Advanced Flap Surgery today

Hi all! It has been a while since I've posted in here. A refresher is I developed an internal anal abscess (between the two sphincter muscles) last April. I've had 6 surgeries, now 7 after today and had everything from a mushroom catheter, to three different setons placed, to drainage and excavation, etc. I had a scope in November that didn't show any signs of CD but my Colorectal surgeon put a new seton in because of my rather large, and complex fistula. Two weeks ago at a check up my surgeon decided it was time to explore my options for reconstruction, etc. We both decided since there was no sign of CD as of yet, that as a healthy 33 year old neither of us felt I should keep the seton in so today I went under GA so the surgeon could do some exploratory work and decide my best options. I definitely have weakness of the sphincter muscles after all of the surgeries and quite a bit of scar tissue. While in the OR my surgeon decided to perform the advanced flap surgery. This surgery took longer than any of my other ones and I am in a considerable about of pain. Is this typical? To experience this much pain after the flap surgery? I'm off this weekend but due to go back to work on Monday. I really wasn't expecting this much pain to be honest. I'm hoping this flap procedure works and I don't develop another abscess and fistula and start from square one all over again. Any advice out there about the flap surgery? I know since I don't have CD, or at least I don't have a diagnosis, I'm more likely to heal than if I did. Thank in advance for any advice!!

Thanks for the response scifigal2k. It has been one long week since my surgery. My pain was horrible through Tuesday and still pretty bad on Wednesday. I wasn't really able to go to the bathroom (probably my body fighting my brain) so I was taking miralax, stool softeners, and eventually milk of magnesia. I was finally able to have a good BM late last night/early this morning but it was mostly of the liquid variety. And since then, my pain scale has been right back up to a 9 or 10. I still haven't been back to work and I had expected to just be out Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Now it feels like there is just tremendous pressure down there and it makes it hard and painful to do just about anything, even going #1 is painful and almost hard to even do. I finally got in touch with my PA and he said I probably tore one of the sutures or irritated the flap that they sutured up. So I he told me to try and keep regular, keep taking warm baths, etc. I just feel like something worse is going on down there and I'm not due back for my post op until next Thursday but even then I'm not sure what they will do other than look at the outside area. :( I just want my pain to lessen so I can get back to work. I was so looking forward to not having a seton in place any more but I cant even enjoy that because of my new pain.
