Hi Mfargnoli3,
I am so sorry! This illness is sneaky and downright evil! I know I work so hard trying to be happy and to live my life to the fullest, but the illness, even in remission, is always there, lurking in the corners and waiting to pounce....at least that's how I experience it.
BUT, before you jump to conclusions, here are some thoughts. Make sure to get stool cultures right away. Your GP can order them when you see him today. Our mucosal lining is compromised with Crohn's even in remission so we are more prone to infections. My other concern for you, is if you are over-training and stressing your body too much? D is common with runners and you may be run down. See if you can slow down your training and see if it helps at all. Of course it can also be the evil Crohn's disease.....your GP can order all of the bloodwork in advance....CRP, Sed rate, iron panel and fecal calprotectin, so you have more info available when you see your GI on the 18th. Don't hesitate to ask your GP for what you need, and if he doesn't want to order the blood tests and stool studies, then call your GI's office and ask a nurse there if you can get labs in advance of your visit. In normal life, I'm really a very kind, polite person, but with this disease, I've learned to be much more assertive than I ever imagined I could be. Keep us updated as to how you are doing!
