Well first I'm getting my end ileostomy reversed on the August 4th. He is opening my midline incision up because have a hernia right in my incision. And there is also a stricture in my small intestine so he is going to cut that out and fix the hernia. He is also going take out the parts that are full of scar tissue. Also with a end ileostomy reversal will I lose weight in the first few weeks because the diarrhea? And whoever that had this done before can you tell me what kind of pain I should expect to have? The surgeon told me that he has had some people tell them it hurts worse than the surgery to get the end ileostomy.

It hurt tonnes more for me, but I developed an ileus (intestinal paralysis) after my second operation, something I didn't have my first operation. An ileus can take anything from 2 days to 2 weeks to resolve; mine took closer to 2 weeks and was probably the most horrible thing I've been through. I lost about 14lb in the first week. After that, though, I didn't lose any more weight.

I'm not really sure what else to say, since everyone's experiences are different and what happened to me probably won't be the same as what happens to you.

I had surgery a year ago - the fourth time in 15 years. The doctor had to repair a rupture in my intestine and because of all the adhesions from previous surgeries he had quite a time cutting through the fibers. I was quite sore for about a week, but was able to sit up the next day after surgery and walk with the aid of my nurse. And took walks down the halls of the hospital. The pain meds are usually quite effective, but it takes awhile for the muscles of the abdomen to get stronger.
I know you will come through better than I did, and I'm still as active as ever. I am 78 years old and was diagnosed with CD in 1993. I have been on Humira for 7 years and rather than CD, the most problem I've had in the last few years has been from the scar tissue.

Thank you everyone this my 8th surgery for crohns in two years. So I had my share just didn't know what to expect with the end ileostomy reversal. And plus having a bowel restriction to. I'm sure my stomach muscles have had enough with all this
