So frustrated with these flares. Long story short I've been on:

Asacol/Lialda/Rowasa only to realize I can't tolerate them

Went through imuran which gave me pancreatitis

Had a bad reaction to Remicade

MTX stopped working

Currently on Cimzia, but I still flare on it every so often.

Cipro used to stop my flares but it's not working on my current flare.

I just finished an RX for Suprax (another antibiotic) with no Improvement. I couldn't even find research that this was used for Crohns but my dr is a really good one at Brigham & Women so I trust him.

Now what do I do? I was trying to avoid steroids for obvious reasons.

Any suggestions? My flare isn't awful, but i see small amounts of blood be mucous every day now for a month and have awful gas and cramping with occasional diarrhea. I have Crohn's disease of the Colon.

What about Humira? It is similar to Remicade but fewer people have reactions.

Haven't tried humira. My GI said he didn't have good results with humira when remicade doesn't help so they went straight to Cimzia. I asked if I have to go off Cimzia what would be next and the answer was Entyvio, which I know is a new biologic. Not sure what everyone's experience with Entyvio is...

That's really weird, because there are a LOT of people on this forum who have had GREAT results with Humira when they failed Remicade. Entyvio is actually pretty good, my infusion nurse was telling me at my last Remi infusion that it is supposed to be more Crohn's-specific than Remicade or Humira. But if it doesn't work well, I really think that Humira would be worth trying. Most of the time when people react to Humira, it is because of the mouse protein that is in it (which is what makes it last 8 weeks as opposed to the 2 weeks of Humira), so Humira is a good bet if the reaction to Remicade was because of that.

Thanks. :) It's one of my favorites and has become my mantra when things are rough. God is the only way I have been able to get through all of this with any semblance of happiness.

Yeah I've been on Cimzia now for 5 years so perhaps it's worth another discussion. Remicade gave me rigors and a fever during my second infusion. I do remember something about the differences between how remicade and Cimzia were produced and the mouse protein stuff vs humanized ones. I was happy that Cimzia was a shot I could do at home. The idea of doing infusions (even if they are only 30 mins long) is overwhelming. Actually, I think I'm just getting overwhelmed in general from flaring.
