Sore throat and Crohns

I'm 61, female, was very active. Diagnosed with Crohns almost a year ago. I had a Roux en Y gastric bypass with total separation of the pouch and stomach in 2000, which now the Doctors say, is complicating my Crohns. I have been in the hospital with a 5 cm blockage, on 60 mg prednisone, Humira, imuran, ( switched from Methotrexate) Right before a flare, I get blisters in my Nose! So So sore! my throat is sore, to the point I can't sleep. Traveling the State of Ca, talking to surgeons, Geeeze! No one in Central Valley can fix me, i'm going to walnut creek to the GI surgeons and to UCSF to talk to surgeons. Whats wrong with this picture! a year ago, I was playing 80 games of tennis a day and leaving the courts and walking 18 holes of golf, coming home and walking dogs 4 miles. Now I'm looking at scooters! Dr says, if I have the resection, I might have 10 more good years. I guess I'm lucky, I do not have diarrhea with my crohns, lots of constipation though! I have had small bowel series, many CTs, just tried another colonoscopy after 3 days of fasting and prep, I was still full and the colonoscopy could not be performed. Well thanks for reading, I'm just depressed and in pain!

It's always hard when it hits you hard and fast, especially when you go from being very active to suddenly not being able to live the life that was previously "normal." Before my last flare, I was training for my first triathlon and eventually had to give it up and withdraw because I couldn't exercise anymore due to pain.

Crohn's has a number of extra-intestinal manifestations. I have actually had the nose sores multiple times, typically corresponding with flares, and while doctors have never had much idea I assume it's just from the inflammation. You could also have some GERD causing the sore throat. You don't always have classic symptoms (chest pain, heartburn, etc.) and if bile is coming up your esophagus (which is especially likely at night), that could be the causing the sore throat. It could also be a side effect of one of your medications.
