Can I donate blood or bone marrow?

I have Crohns, and currently on Humira and 6mp. I was wondering if I could donate.

I don't think so, I think I had tried back when i was on Lialda and the answer was no not when you are on any prescription medications :(
not sure what your circumstances are that are driving the question but I always get a little sad when ever my local hospital sends me blood drive info urging me to donate.

I was able to donate blood while on Sulfasalazine and Remicade. As long as I wasn't anemic blood was not an issue. Only some medications cause an issue and those are on the questionnaire. Although I think different states and blood banks have slightly different rules.

Bone marrow I could not donate.

I think bone marrow has to do with the immune system and replacing it in the transplant patient from the donor.

There was a recent article about curing some patient's CD with a bone marrow transplant but that is very risky and only in the most extreme cases because there is a 10% chance of death from it.
