Undetected abscess?

Hi,

This is my first post in almost two years. I had three fistulotomies to repair a perianal fistula, with my last surgery in April 2015. The surgeries were successful and I've been pain and symptom-free since 2015.

Over the last year, however, I had a few isolated incidents of fluid drainage. These were one-time occurrences. I didn't go to the CRS because the drainage didn't happen again.

Recently, I had some bowel movements which resulted in fluid drainage. Even though it's been a while, the fluid was a lot like what I had experienced in the past. I have had some intermittent pain and soreness in the perianal area where the abscesses and fistula were located. I've felt tired, with headaches and generally feeling run down. Those are symptoms I associated with abscesses in the past.

I'm wondering if I should just ride it out or bite the bullet and call my CRS.

Can abscesses recur? Has anybody had a similar experience?

All I got was 6 months thanks to remicade.
