Ileostomy Pressure feeling!

Hello, I'm 21 and recently had a right hemi colectomy due to a perforated bowel after a Crohns disease flair up.

I had my surgery 4 months ago and have been completely fine and pain free. However about a month and a half ago I developed this sort of tightness and pressure feeling at the tip of my stoma and to the left of my stoma (it is on the right hand side).

Initially I thought I may have developed adhesions in my abdomen etc, however I have since had an X-ray and an MRI scan as you do after this surgery and both were completely normal. Surgeon wasn't sure what it was he initially said you may form adhesions but then he checked my scans etc and nothing showed up. Strange thing is after sleeping I have no discomfort at all, its gone. Very odd. Seems to come when my bowel starts up.

My stoma nurse said the spasms can be natural bowel movement and I may be more sensitive than other people, makes sense because I have these spasms very often, usually in the evening when I get super anxious and work myself up about it and then boom. Nothing in the day spasm wise, just some pressure in the stoma head. Anyone had anything similar? Thanks

I'm not sure. The only time I had tightness and pressure behind my stoma was when food was struggling to get through. And it was right behind the stoma rather than at the tip of it - it seems odd to me that you are experiencing any sensation there at all, since the stoma itself doesn't have any feeling.

But still, if it isn't adhesions, then the muscles behind the stoma working extra hard to push food through is the only other thing I can think of.

I hear drinking lots of water helps things move better less painful .
