Skin allergy post Remicade infusion

I got skin rash last time I took my Remicade dose. It lasted for 3 days and I varied the antihistamines (I take them on a daily basis because of chronic sinusitis). Yesterday, I took my new infusion. I informed the doctor at the infusion center. She looked alarmed and said that they I have to be given an Avil injection in addition to the steroid injection I take every time. She told me to see how things go on this time.

Yesterday went on well as the Avil was still in my system. Today, I'm starting to have some rash not as severe as last time but it's there. I did not take the daily antihistamine. I think the effect of the Avil must have worn off. I know that this is a reaction to remicade. What does it indicate? Remicade antibodies level in within the normal range.

I broke out in a psoriasis type rash all over my arms and frame of my face after a couple Remicade infusions. I even had a reaction to the first infusion where I couldn't move without intense pain. My doctor took me off Remicade and I'm now on Humira.

I think I would call my GI and let him know. I believe that a rash indicates an allergic reaction. They can circumvent that with steroids and benedryl....but they need to be prepared. You do not want to have a severe allergic reaction and have them not be prepared.

This incident happened the infusion before last. Last infusion, which was a week ago, I informed the doctor at the infusion center of this skin allergy. She was alarmed and said that from now on we have to add Avil to the steroids they give me as pre-meds. She also added that we should see whether I would have any reactions this time. I had a very slight skin rash that lasted for only one day but I do get skin rashes every now and then which I think are not related to Remicade. I'll inform my GI when I next see him.
