Faecal Calprotectin High but All Scoop Normal

Hi,

So I had this constant loose stools for about +/-3 years now, along with severe gas , pain over my right diafragm through my lower right abdomen, and abnormal stomach movement. Seems I can't digest anyhing I eat properly. I also developed lesions over my tounge that resembles geographic tounge. And feel constantly tired even from small activities.

My gastro doctor worried I have Crohn, so he performed all kinds of test. The weird thing was he had me endoscopied (to see the stomach), colonoscopied(to see the bowel) and even got me swallowed a pillcam to see the small bowel. I had CRP blood test too and it's negative.

All the scoop tests came back clear, but the blood test showed I lack of vit D, some minerals (potassium,kalium,etc) low levels of MCH,MCHC and MCV, and my ESR was high. Also the stool test for Faecal Calprotectin elevated from 325 to 573. (I had it twice)

So it has baffled both me and my gastro doctor for quite sometime, but since all the scoop was normal, he declared that I had IBS-D. Any thoughts? Still scared if I got Crohn or not, and the symptoms hasn't subsided till now....

Okay, that's quite a baffling case. Firstly, are you by any chance on any regular NSAIDs (e.g. ibuprofen) or PPIs (e.g. omezaprole)? Those type of meds can cause an elevated faecal calprotectin. Pretty obviously, if you are taking them, stop them and seek an alternative.

Otherwise, it's hard to know what to suggest with completely negative scopes :/ Have you tried any dietary changes, e.g. gluten-free, low-FODMAP? If it really is IBS (which I'm doubtful about with that high FC), then it might respond to a change of diet. If nothing is any better after 6 months, I'd repeat the scopes again. Several people on here have reported having clear tests at first, and it taking months or even years before they finally got a diagnosis - hopefully that won't happen to you.

Yes I'm on various kind of ppi since 3 years ago, from lansoprazole to pantoprazole now, taking them on and off but can't never completely without them. I have occasional burning sensation over the diafragm, but it's more to the right side than the left side. ( I think if it's gastritis or something it's must be more to the left where stomach is). Doctor said I have high stomach acid so they always prescribed them, even tho there's nothing found in my stomach, weird.

I also had diet, to the point I'm only eat certain foods only because everything seems to wreak havoc in there. And the fact is, last March was my second endoscopy/colonoscopy. The first was back then in the end of 2015. Both came back clear. Of course I really hope it's not Crohn, and I feel relieved the scoops were ok, but as for right now I'm writing this I have gone to the loo twice on the span of 3hr, and now I'm in pain and the movement and rumblings of gas/bubbles inside won't stop at all. I don't know what to do anymore..
