Experience with Draining Seton after Perianal Fistula diagnosis???? (Crohn's and non Crohn's please)

Good luck! Out of all of my surgeries, the draining seton was by far the easiest. There's pain for a few days after, but eventually it ends up fine. I've now had my fistula for over 5 years. For me, it ended up turning into kind of a piercing - the skin all the way around it healed completely, but the "tunnel" was still there, if that makes sense. I don't even need a seton anymore. But when I had it in, after a few months I barely even noticed it was there.

Whoops! I've done that before on accident, too.

I'm glad it's going well! I had the seton in for about three months the first time, then we took it out when I started Remicade (which I'm still on) to see if it would heal. It did not, and I kept getting c. diff., etc., so we stuck another seton in that I had for probably a good 2-3 years.

I can't remember super well how quickly it stopped draining, I was pretty sick at the time with Crohn's flares, c. diff, and pancreatitis. I was hospitalized 13 times in about a 6 month period, so it's all kind of a blur. I don't remember having to wear pads or anything from it much, though.

Not necessarily courage, I didn't have a choice in the matter! ;)
