Hi All -

My name is Patrick and I am moving to San Diego next month, and need to find a good GI doctor. Anyone have recommendations? I have had Crohns since 2007, am on Remicade, and doing pretty well for the most part.

Do you know what area of town you'll live in? That, plus what insurance you end up with, will largely determine who you could possibly see.

I know that Scripps, UCSD, and Sharp all have a few very good IBD doctors.

Thanks! I'll be living in Claremont area to start out with. My doctor here in Santa Cruz said she wanted to refer me to Dr. William Sanborn who is at UCSD, which is great. I just want to have some other options as well in case that doesn't pan out. Thanks a lot of for the info!

I live just a few miles from there. Dr. Sandborn is one of the premier IBD docs in the country - but that's not always a good thing! He does lots of research and can be hard to see as a patient. But they have a good team there with other doctors besides him.

UCSD, Scripps, and Sharp are all very close to Clairemont (within 5 miles) and all have at least a couple of good IBD docs, so I think you'll be ok to start with any of them.

I started out at Scripps (due to insurance pushing me there), then moved to UCSD when my insurance changed and the new one pushed me there instead.
