Hi everyone,
Hi everyone,
I'm new here, and new to this horrible c-diff. I live in Arizona and 3 weeks ago I flew back to NJ to visit family. On the night I arrived in NJ, I awoke at my sister's house around `11:30 at night doubled over in pain. I just about
passed out. My sister and her husband called the ambulance and by the time I was in the hospital I had diarrhea and bloody stools. They did a CT scan and thought it was colitis and I was admitted to the hospital. 2 days later I found out I had c-diff. I didn't really know what it was. I spent 8 days in the hospital on IV Levaquin and Flagyl plus Bentyl for pain. I don't know how I made it back home to AZ, but I did. First thing my GI doctor said was why was I on Levaquin. I had no idea! He put me on Vanomycin 125mg 4 times a day. I'm now on my 9th day and while I don't have diarrhea, I have loose stools..they look formed until you flush and they fall apart into nothing!! I have some discomfort but nothing like that night. I have been reading so many threads and research until I stumbled upon this site, which I found informative. My question is this..I'm on Florastor twice a day and Vancomycin, stools are loose but not watery -and I usually go 2 or 3 times a day. Is this the normal pattern? I have no fever, I have an appetite but find if I eat too much, I'll suffer for it. I have no other health issues, am not overweight, and eat healthy. This is miserable, I feel like my life has really been impacted. I'm afraid to go out for too long in case I need the bathroom. We have bought hospital grade bleach wipes that kill the c-diff spores and have totally disinfected the home short of wiping my dog down
I even change my sheets every other day. Unless someone has gone through this, they don't know the misery. Oh, I do have IBS and diverticulitis, so maybe that is also contributing to why this seems to be taking so long. Thanks for listening, I wish you all well.
