If it's been healed up for a while I wouldn't think an internal would reopen it. But I would let the dr. doing the internal know the history of it.

Thank you both. I haven’t written in awhile or even checked forum. Having issues with PTSD. Stelara is really helping bowel ....and I guess RVF but not peri-anal as of yet.

After 2 days of 10+ burning pain & itching it turns out I have a bladder & yeast infection. Lucky me. Currently in a chair getting Ivig & its all I can do but stay sane. I’m burning & itching so badly. I started boric acid for yeast & will start macrobid today. I hope that helps. I’m terrified that this is a fistula issue because this is how everything started 15 months ago. My family doc is amazing and told me to focus on what we know. Yeast & bladder both of which are treatable. If I could I’d love to take a morphine & knock myself out.

On a positive note I’m more stable (not in remission yet) but have been keeping extremely busy & even enjoying life. I’ve redecorated my kitchen/dining, washed my windows & even scrubbed my tile grout with a toothbrush! I have to keep busy otherwise my mind goes to reliving this years trauma. Best news is that I returned to Ballet!

Any suggestions as to how long I give boric acid to work? It’s been 2 days with no relief today. Wondering if it’s my bladder infection causing the burning soreness.

Did they not give you a prescription for diflucan for the yeast infection? For what it's worth, I get frequent yeast infections and UTIs as well. They really suck.

My RV fistula is unhealed. I've definitely had UTIs and yeast infections at the same time. I usually get each one 3-4 time per year, and sometimes they overlap. The problem is antibiotics will cause yeast infections, so take Florastor like crazy when on an antibiotic.

The problem with anything inserted as opposed to oral for yeast infections is that with fistulas, the yeast can be coming from the digestive tract and into the vaginal canal. So you're not getting to the source. At least, that's been my experience. I have NEVER been able to shake a yeast infection with just creams, etc. I always end up needing a week of Diflucan.
