I was supposed to receive my Humira delivery on Friday, but due to weather issues, I did not receive it until yesterday (Monday). The two ice packs weren't completely melted but were still cold, but very slushy. The medication itself was still clear. I talked to my pharmacy (Briova) and a pharmacist at Abbvie and they said it should be okay, but I'm still worried. The Abbvie pharmacist is escalating my concerns to a manager, so we'll see what they say.
What I do not understand is why I receive a temperature indicator with my shipment that changes color if the temperature goes above 77 degrees F. I don't see how this is useful if I'm supposed to store the Humira between 36-46 F if it's longer than the 14 day "OK at room temperature" window. They kept saying that if the temperature indicator did not change it should be okay, and I tried to explain how I don't understand how it can be useful if it's not supposed to get above 46 F, but I didn't get a straight answer... they kept saying it should be fine.
Has anyone else been in this situation? I got 4 pens for weekly injections, and I'm supposed to start the pens in this shipment next Monday.
