Hey straydog, thanks for asking after me :p
I'm a bit of a wreck at the moment, between the Crohn's, uveitis and other mysterious symptoms. My stomach gave me hell over the long Easter weekend - and that was before I'd even had any chocolate ;_; I almost contacted the IBD nurse to ask for an appointment, but as my stomach seems to have got better in the meantime I think I'll hold off for now.
I spent 3 and a half hours waiting at the eye clinic yesterday to be seen for my eyes. The delay *may* have been partly my fault >.> I couldn't hack the crowded, stuffy waiting area, so I went off to the other side of the building and waited there instead. Apparently the nurse kept on calling for me and I wasn't there - oops. (In my defense I did go up to reception after an hour and asked if anyone had called for me yet. They said no... -_-) At any rate, the eye doctor didn't even know I was there, but thank god he agreed to see me: by this time it was 8:30pm. Anyway, long story short, I had uveitis in the left eye. The doc ticked me off for using steroid drops for so long without seeing anybody; I explained I had tried to stop the drops but every time I did so the uveitis would come back again straight away. He seemed to take it on board and said I needed to be seen regularly if I had to stay on the steroid eye drops. I should be getting an appointment in two weeks' time. In the meantime I'm back on a high dose of Maxidex for my left eye.
The other problem I think I
may have is akathisia. At first I just assumed it was restless legs syndrome, but it's been so unbearable lately - and also affecting me during the daytime - that I think it has to be something more. This wiki article has a deece overview:
/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AkathisiaIt's not just my legs which are affected either, but my mood as well. Yesterday at the eye clinic, I felt suicidal for an hour or two. Thankfully the feelings disappeared as the evening wore on, but it was scary. My mood has generally been restless, agitated and low. My concentration span is even worse than normal, and that's saying something! At any rate, I'm more determined than ever now to get off duloxetine and try something else (god knows what). If it is causing akathisia, then it is almost certainly doing me more harm than good.
PS: Codeine makes it better, but I only take that very sparingly. Once my current stash goes, I probably won't be able to replace it. Also, I don't exactly want to get addicted to opiates again.
So... yeah, that's about
it. Plus ducks.
