Last June I had my second bowel resection. about
40 CM of short bowel and a very small portion of the colon. Since then I've been struggling with urgency issues. I've tried a variety of meds, probiotics, and diet changes, and finally (at least for now), I think I found my cocktail. I take two Immodiums about
an hour before each meal and take one Culturelle in the AM then one Florastor at night. I've been going to the restroom once a day in the morning between 8 am and 10 am. That's it! Plus, the stool seems to be more formed than before when it was loose. Hopefully this works out for the long run. However, any issues with taking 6 Immodiums a day?

It's best to talk to your doctor about
how much you take and how frequently and for how long.
You're taking 6 of the 2mg tablets/pills every day? If so, that's higher than recommended for OTC use, but it might be ok - that's why it's something you should talk about
with your doctor.

beave - thanks much. Yes, I am taking 6 of the 2mg caplets a day. My GI doctor said I can go up to 8 caplets a day, but I haven't talked to other doctors to get their professional opinions. Now, for whatever reason, I'm worried.

the recommendations against Imodium are that it can stop you from pooping when you have an infection and should be getting rid of toxins. In your case with loss of bowel, and especially because your doc says it's ok, I think if it is working effectively for you then you should continue to use it.
