How long did it take to STELARA TO WORK?

Hey everyone I have crohns in the small illieum I believe that’s what’s it called lol. I have already been on humira and Remicade I have had crohns since I was 18 I’m 21 now. Remicade stopped working so my doctor switched me to Stelara I had to get a infusion for it the first time yesterday and for the remainder of the time I’m on it I have to take shots my first shot will be in 8 weeks since I just had the infusion yesterday but I was wondering how long did it take for Stelara to kick in with anyone who had experience with it or did you have any side effects reach remission? Anything you all can tell me will help thank you !

Stelara is still fairly new to Crohn's treatment. This is why you might not get a lot of replies. I've done some research, but most of the "time to work" answers are from Psoriasis boards. For Psoriasis, it seems to be about 4-12 weeks to reach a strong therapeautic level.

The good news is, Stelara seems to be getting rave reviews from Crohn's patients. It seems to be the best med to come along since Remicade. I hope you have good success with it.

I started stelara in December after failing everything else. I started to notice an improvement within a few weeks and by 30 days after the first infusion, my joint pain had gone away. I recently had a major gi bleed, and had another scope done. Bleeding seemed to come from an ulcer at the ti site from last resection. But they also did a promethiese test for stelara to make sure it was maintaining in my body. It was ! So I am pleased with it. Now, I just need to recover from the GI bleed.......I have had 7 pints of blood so far but hemoglobin level is just 8.2

Did you gain any weight back I dropped down to 95 I’m starting to get an appetite back though, but last night something upset my stomach and at the bottom of my stomach above my uterus it felt like my intestines were twisting and can feel it moving is that normal?

I have had 2 resection surgeries so nothing is normal anymore..lol. Yes I did gain back about 10 lbs since Jan. I am 55 yr old male so we might differ a bit with weight gain and such as I weigh 225lbs ( I am 6 ft 6) and used to be very athletic. But I also used to weight 250 when I was working out regularly. I have lost almost all of my muscle mass. My wife says my arms and legs are like tooth picks....
