I'm on Humira now. What do I need to know?

I didn't have any immune issues while on either Remicade or Humira. Actually had fewer sinus infections which is something I tend to get quite a bit. I did not get colds either. The best thing I can tell you is this; yes lowering the immune system is a potential, does it happen to everyone, no. Don't let yourself get caught in the trap of thinking every little off thing must be the result of the Humira. Having this disease can be stressful enough, don't add unnecessary things to mix.

I did not lose hair either. What you will find that happens often with people is if they are really ill with their disease, often their nutrition is way off, they are ill & stressed. These very things can contribute to hair loss.

I was on humira for 9 months too. Worked really well! I think I had a runny nose frequently but it never amounted to anything. I didn’t get sick with anything as far as I can remember. You can take precautions by washing your hands regularly. As far as cancers go, get a yearly skin check with a dermatologist. Most doctors that I’ve encountered recommend this for people on biologics to avoid skin cancer.
