Erudite Paul...I remember that other post of yours...and Dale this may help too (although yours seems localized and you should chat with your doc). Back issues run in my family so I am not sure if my back stuff is really CD related. However, I know my not so terrific core muscles and leg muscles are a part of the back issues and some of that muscle issue is a tertiary problem from the CD. So I guess what I am saying is hip bone connected to the thigh bone etc
I highly recommend seeing if you can get into physical therapy. It was what helped my back the most. It was the stretching and the core strength without major impact or exhaustion that really seemed to make the whole spine to toes feel better. Oddly, they also encouraged me to get the rubber wedges that push your big toe over too--that tiny thing makes a world of difference in my legs and back.
