Sorry, didn't mean to be so graphic but I'm curious about something.  The last few days my whole rear-end is hurting.  Not just my rectum.  Sort of radiates from rectum to my cheeks.  It's hard to explain.  I mentioned to my doctor last week but now it's constant.  It is only hurting when I'm sitting on it.  I also noticed more stomach grumbles and nausau (sp?).  I don't think anyone can probably help but just in case someone has experience this.  I just feel like something is going on but don't want to run to my GI unless I have something definative.

I can only share my experience, but before I had even been diagnosed, my first symptom was an abscess that was deep in the skin. You couldn't see anything of it. It just REALLY hurt. It started out to feel like I had just been riding a bike for too long and my rear end was sore. It just kept getting worse to the point where I couldn't sit at all. If this sounds familiar and it doesn't go away, you may want to get it checked out.

Sure does sound familiar. I'll guess I'll just see what develops. I am running a slight fever. Nothing major though.

I agree with munchin81....but you don't want to see what develops. If it is an abscess and it ends up bursting inside of you, you could get sepsis. You need to go see your colorectal surgeon, or at least call him. I have had numersous abscesses, and it is like you are describing. Mine are deep and you can't see anything on the outside, but you sure can feel it when you sit. I didn't know what was going on with my first one, and after about a month with the pain, the abscess was the size of a man's fist, and I was in so much pain, I couldn't walk!

Yeah, I had the fever too. I would take Tylenol to get it down, and it would come right back. You probably want to call your doctor. It is just awful when it gets really big.

I have a call into my GI. I'm patiently waiting............and waiting.............and waiting. I'm sure y'all know what I mean.

Finally set up an appointment for x-rays. Why would they do x-rays of my pelvic if it's my tail-bone that hurts? I'll let you know how it goes. Appointment at noon today.

Sounds like you might be describing a pilonidal cyst. This is a fistulous tract in the sac around the coccyx. Here is a web site you might want to check out.

Well, I had the x-ray last friday and still waiting for a call back from the doctor. I called this morning so I'm sure they will call me this afternoon. Sometimes I just have to remind them that I'm out here patiently waiting.

Oh, fever has gone back to normal and the pain hasn't gotten any worse. I've stopped working out at the Y until I hear something. I'm starting to wonder if it was just from falling on my tail-bone 7 months ago while on the treadmill. I just don't know why it would start hurting again now.
