From the prescribing information:
"REMICADE is supplied as a sterile, white, lyophilized powder for intravenous infusion. Following reconstitution with 10 mL of Sterile Water for Injection, USP, the resulting pH is approximately 7.2. Each single-use vial contains 100 mg infliximab, 500 mg sucrose, 0.5 mg polysorbate 80, 2.2 mg monobasic sodium phosphate, monohydrate, and 6.1 mg dibasic sodium phosphate, dihydrate."
Therefore, each vial has 0.50 grams of sugar. Four vials would equal 2 grams of sugar. Eight vials would be 4 grams of sugar. I am not sure how much effect 2 grams of sugar IV has on the blood glucose levels and how long that effect lasts. Hopefully, someone with info on diabetes will know the answer.
