burning sensation

Hi I never noticed any burning feeling when I had mine when eating or after.lol gail

I have seen people "pouch" a fistula. You can get the little baby pouches, use some paste or an Eakin and protect that skin. I think Convatec even has "wound" pouches that are great for this kind of thing (called the "wound manager" I think), at least they used to. Maybe a call to your ET nurse is in order.

ty so much I will have to check that out. For now I used skin prep I have left over from before...shoot even thought about putting one of my wafers and bags over the area but it isnt draining that much. The Doc suggested I change the dressing 2 times a day, I may do it more frequently tho but concerned on how I would go about that at work nrxt week.

they want me to keep gauze packed into the wound not tight but enought so it will not close up. They have me using saline ( I have a cpl bottles from when they would flush and clean my incision, they are not sterile anymore since they have been open but that doesnt matter since what is coming out is poop). I also bought a sterile saline spray at the pharmacy. It shoots a stream of sterile saline in the wound to flush out the area. I use that before putting the new gauze in and around the area. Do you think using the skin prep will allow the excoriated skin below to heal? Should I get something like desatin instead?

They think since it isnt gushing out feces that it will heal once I start humira. I dropped off my stool sample today to test for C Diff. If that comes back nrgative I just have to wait for my pharmacy to get it in. I am using the no sting barrier wipes that I have left over from my ostomy. I have another full box of a different one too, I wont use that though until I am out of the no sting and the skin is healed. Then I may switch to that one right after the skin heals so if it does become excoriated again I will have no sting ones on hand. I also have the no sting spray in addition to the wipes. I informed my GI about the tx the surgeon has me doing and he agrees. My surgeon is back from vacation this upcoming week so I took my old appt for Thursday the 27th at 4:30...last wed it was you look great see u in a month, although ai had informed him of pain I was having hence the C diff...there was no visible sign of any fistula at the time and my insides are "soft" according to both docs (mine and the one I saw monday). The next step was going to be a MRI but now that the fistula came to the skin and is now open I think we know the problem. Since it has "popped" the pain is lessening greatly although I am sore in the general vacinity of the actual drainage site. I have oxycontin and dilaudid for pain pills at home. I also have more pain patches but wont use those unless directed to as a last resort.

I can only use paper tape I am allergic to all the others. I see my doc on the 27th so the covering one I saw was the 17th so that will be 10 days of the saline dressings, he will be able to guide me from there. I have wound/ostomy site cleanser left from my ostomy so I use that it can be used in a wound. I squirt that around the area at the end of my shower and rinse it off. It is also used for incontinence cleansing. I also bought sterile saline in a can at CVS. It squirts out and it flushes the area clean beofre placing a dressing. After I used that and dried the internal area with qtips and sterile gauze was when it decided to poop. Luckily I had a face cloth under it but it still went in that little valley of my scar down to my underwear. I have my period now too so cramping is pretty bad, I have an ovarian cyst that likes to come and go as it pleases even with the pill. I just ordered some wound care supply samples from hollister, I dont want to try a diff company since I have many allergies to tapes, adhesives etc so I know I dont have reactions to hollister products. Hopefully they wont take too long to come in, my health insurance doesnt cover ostomy or wound care supplies which stinks.
