wow humira is pricey

I just got back from picking up my 1st pack of humira (the 6 pens total for loading doses).  It had to be pre approved and now I know why.  I paid $40 and my health insurance paid $3861.28  That comes to approx $650 per injectable pen

There is a new nurse at mt GI office and my GI has thursdays off so I get to wait til tomorrow to find out when I am going in to learn how to do it. I am going to have my godfather's wife give me the shots though. I am too chicken to do it and she is a RN, she will also probably give me my B12 on months where I dont have a Dr appt around the time when I usually get them. When I move in Nov she will litterally be a cpl streets over

I am also starting work at a local hospital on monday. It is a teaching hospital and I will be working in family care. It is a program for residents to learn how to run their own practice. They are working under faculty and board certified docs. Maybe even one of the nurses there or a resident would be willing to give me the shot. I know my godfathers wife will tho. She can no longer practice since she has so many health issues now...fibro, food allergies, celieac (sp?), lyme etc she use to be a pediatric ICU nurse. She still keeps her certifications up though in case she does need to help someone. She is the closest thing my family knows to a saint, she is absolutely wonderful. When I was Dx she was working at the time and in the same hospital I was in. When I was scared of tests I was having she was able to go with me as long as she wasnt "working" so if it was after her schedule, lunch, break etc she would be in the room with me. She actually stayed while I was having my port-a-cath placed since I needed TPN for 12 weeks so my folks could administer it at home...I had already been in the hospital for 6 weeks and wanted out. I went in 2 days before Christmas when I was 8....it was my last year believeing in Santa too. I was so afraid santa would skip my house cuz I wasnt there.

Ugh my belly hurts still even with this dilauded I am going to lay down with my heating pad now.

Hi Steph Glad you got your meds and I hope you will be getting them sooner then soon. Thank goodness you only paid forty. So are you moving into your Grandfather's like you said you were going to? It is nice you have someone to help you administer them .Perhaps in time you will be able to do it yourself. Lots of people here seem to be able to do it and I guess it is worth the little bit of discomfort to have the meds. Bet that little poo poo of yours is in for it now and will be healing in no time. Hi Judy Wow does't sound like you have the best of insurance .Why don't you submit to the company your med. history and see if they would cover that cost for you of $400. Where you have had so many surgeries maybe they would give you some help.What terrible insurance company do you have anyway?Maybe they are not advertised enough as being so useless.lol gail
