OT employable ??

  So your doc says you should be able to work. I had one say that. "Just bring a change of cloths." WHAT ?? Well after explaining I would need about five changes , a place to change other than my company truck, and an excuse for each time I had to drive away from a job, he changed his tune. I had to explain that crapping my pants in a customers home did not meet the standards of the company for which I worked. Also working with  depends on could allow the customer to have a wiff of something other than an air of professionalism. Oddly enough, the military seems to be the only entity that understands. Of course crapping ones pants on the battle field could be bad for morale, and also could bring a label other than ,,unemployable. The point is, you need to be frank with doctors. Most of them have no idea what its like in the real world. Try explaining it with golf balls. " Doc , how would you like to play the last 9 holes with your drawers full."  Ahhh, theres the ticket...

they told me i was unemployable when i had to hokk up to my tpn everyday. and all the dr appointment that go along with..

when i filed for disability a few years ago (i am back at work now, for the time being) i wrote on the application, under "what activities are you not able to perform that limit your ability to work":

sitting for long periods of time, standing for long periods of time. alternating between standing and sitting...

i think that pretty much limited my ability to do anything but lay in bed and vegge out, right? well, it worked, they didn't argue with me...but i think i was lucky...

When my mom tried to get disability for her CD it was a battle. She taught 7th grade. They told her to move her desk next to the bathroom door. Sure, have a class of 7th graders in the hall with your desk next to the bathroom. Never mind the fact that when you have to go no one is watching them or how long you are in the bathroom or if you can even make it to the bathroom even when you are next to it. Plus the stress 7th graders in general cause to flare the CD...........
