SELF MEDICATION

phoned my pharmacist at the hospital today to enquire if i could self medicate methotrexate instead of attending the hospital every friday and her reply was she dosent know if it is permitted iin the uk its only permitted in the us im totally confused.

The simple reason i would like to self medicate is simply because i dont spend anytime with my partner we dont see each other for months because i am literally tied to a hospital this is  making me so depressed when i see my consultant next month i am going to ask him if i could return to oral methotrexate i tried it the last time but i kept flaring up.

Is methotrexate prescribed only on a weekly basis???????

its not that the methotrexate does not agree with me because it does i have not been admitted to hospital at all this year im just tired seeing hospitals all the time not only that im spending more and more time apart from my partner been together 4 years now the reason i was prescribed injections was becasue oral meds dont agree with me is there an alternative to weekly metho???????????

I was supposed to go on Methotrexate myself, but was unable to because I couldn't tolerate the folic acid supplements. Geesh! Alot of folks on here are able to give themselves their shots, but my insurance didn't allow me to give myself shots, I had to go to the clinic. I do believe it has to be given weekly. So I would follow up with that nurse and see if you can just get the RX and give them to yourself. Can't hurt to ask.
