When you have low energy days, has anyone drank a red bull for a little pick me up?? (of course, minus the vodka.;)
Sometimes the one cup of coffee that is tolerable, is just not enough.

Coffee, tea and cola (ie caffeinated drinks) are pretty much forbidden for me. I might get away with an occasional cup of coffee (like once a week), but any more than that is liable to trigger diarrhea which can take several days to resolve.
Caffeine is an irritant to the intestine. Red Bull, from what I understand, has quite a bit of caffeine. If you're tolerating it, that's great, but I can't, and other Crohnies I've talked to are similarly affected. Diarrhea is a symptom - what's really happening is inflammation, and that's bad.
I love my caffeine, but I just can't take it. A pity, but I guess it's not the worst sacrifice one can make.
regards,
Robert

To be honest, disease or not I wouldn't touch that garbage.
My "pick me up" is exercising regularly...it has many benefits including energy.

Not a good plan! The caffeine jolt is bad for your heart and actually contributes to depletion in energy levels by mucking up your hormones. Sure it gives you a boost -- because it triggers a hormonal response that has your body releasing cortisol and other stress hormones. Very bad when constantly elevated. Anyway, without getting into detail, after the initial rush, the body's energy levels then plummet which has you looking for yet another injection of caffeine and on and on.
Stay away from these energy drinks. They are bad, bad news.
Maybe you need to listen to what your body is trying to tell you instead of flogging it by taking stimulants when all it really wants is a rest. BTW plunging energy levels are often the first sign of adrenal exhaustion, a precurser to diabetes. The wide swings in energy are often caused by blood sugar and the release of insulin. If you are eating foods with a high glycimic index (refined sugars, white flour etc) these foods contribute to adrenal exhaustion.
