Been busy with my new job and can't log in from work anymore   I love this job though! I really miss all of you and need to come back here more and post and read. It really did help me deal with my CD.   Bad news my Dad died Oct 4th and the stress of it all really did a number on my CD. I am still very sad and not sleeping well but I will be ok. It was a shock and he died of a heart attack. My only comfort is that he did not suffer it was rather quick and he passed out. It was such a shock and right now I really don’t feel like it is real, almost like he will walk in the door or call me. We were close and he called me every Sunday. This Sunday was so sad for me.   I am so glad I am at my new job for this they were so great and gave me a week off leave with pay.   Funny thing that happened my fist week or so here... I was trying to decide if I would tell them I have CD. (So far I have not) By accident I heard my boss checking voicemail (we share an office) and heard my coworker has Crohn's, she had left a message about being out sick and it was her Crohn's causing it. I almost gasped. it was so ironic because she recruited me and is part of the reason I am here. However, my boss did not seem to be upset with her so maybe once I tell her she will understand but I am just not sure yet. However, I can't tell my coworker I know because I overheard it and I am not sure if she wants others to know. In addition, I hear my boss talking about her attendance problems and am afraid she might think I will be the same way. I know I won’t be but I figured I would give it a few months and let her realize I don’t miss work unless I have to. Heck I have been here already with some CD related problems and know one knew.   Hope to be back soon! Karen

Hi Karen Sorry about your Dad I know it is hard I lost mine a long time ago and still miss him. So glad you are loving your new job and glad you are dropping in, was wondering how you were doing. lol gail

Karendee I am so sorry about your Dad.  I lost my Dad suddenly when I was 19.  Its been many years now, but I still miss him everyday.  Just remember he will live forever in your heart.

So glad to hear that you are enjoying the new job.  We have really missed you around here.  Has the joint pain gotten any better?

You know maybe you should approach that co-worker that has Crohns and say that you overheard the voicemail because your boss had it on speaker.  Just quietly let her know, "Hey I understand how you feel, I too have Crohns".  I think it might be a comfort to her to have someone else who really understands what she is going thru.  I have a co-worker who has Crohns and we talk alot.  He's a lucky one though, he is only 23 right now, and he has mild Crohns like I used to.  He keeps his Crohns under control with just Pentasa. Eats anything he wants. I keep mine under control with just Asacol, but I also have to really carefully watch my diet, and have horrible joint problems.  I always tell him, he's me 25 years ago. LOL

So glad to hear from you again, don't be such a stranger.

Karendee, So Sorry about your loss and will keep you in my prayers. Don't be afraid to grieve him, let yourself feel your sadness, anger etc...all in due course. There is no way around pain , only through it. Come to us often, we are all here to listen and support you.
Congrats on your new job. Liking a job is such a blessing isn't it. Having to drag yourself to something you hate everyday can't be good for your spirit or your health.
Trust your gut about when to tell your co-worker and boss. The opportunity will present itself ....but you will sense when the time is right. If you are questioning and wondering about that decision now...then the time is not right yet.

thanks everyone!! I am definitely still grieving, just the thought of not seeing him again or talking to him is so sad to me. I am also sad for my kids they loved him so much. One son cried all the way through the funeral. He was so sad. he now wants a picture of Pappy for his locker at school. Nanners, The joint pain for , me started to come back so a few days ago my Dr switched me to Soma muscle relaxer. It seems to be helping. My back still hurts some but not too much. I may tell the coworker soon we are starting to talk more so the opportunity might present itself. My boss was so great when I was out for my Dad, she even encouraged me to take an extra day off. She also got it to let her in my email and took care of everything so I would not have 100 emails when I got back. I could not ask for a better boss. I guess how my last boss treated me keeps me a little scared of telling her. He was not that nice about it. I will try not to be such a stranger anymore... one thing I forgot to mention about my new job is I get 15 sick days per year! Looks like I might actually get a real vacation this year and not use all my days when sick. Karen

Karendee, I am so sorry about your loss. It's so hard to lose a close family member, I did myself just some years ago.

I have been looking for you in here, and have been thinking of you, I knew you were about going to an interview at a job and I am so glad you got it. Sounds like your boss is a good person, don't be afraid of telling her, I'm sure she will appriciate it. Tell her that no Crohn's are the same, and so far yours doesn't hit too hard. If I were a boss I would be glad if a person told me. In my country you can't lose a job if you are sick or cronical sick, and they are not allowed to fire you if you stay at home when you are sick. As long as you go to the doctor and she signs a paper that you bring back to your boss, the company would lose in the court if an employer is sick and they fire her. I don't know how this is in the US.

But anyway, take care of your self and your family!
