Hi All,

Well I spent Tuesday night in the hospital. CT scan didn't show anything but they kept me bc of pain, vomitting and diarrehea. They put me and diluadid. It helps but makes me very loopy. I'm going to Stanford for a dbl balloon endoscopy w/ a stint and starting on Remicade. I'm glad I'm home. Just wanted to say hi to everyone.

Sorry you ended up in the ER, at least you were able to get fluids and something for pain and not all obstructions show up or are seen. The radiologist didn't see my last one, but when my GI went to look at the pics he could see it. I hope you get some relief soon. Are you staying on a liquid diet for a while?

There was no GI on duty or even one in the county! I live in a rural area and my GI is the only GI at the hospital I go to. They are all at some conference. The fluids did help. I was low in potassium and labs showed malnutrition. No I am not on a liquid diet. Should I be? I am so hungry. Do you have any suggestions or a recipe for broth or anything like that? It's good to know that not all stuff can be seen. I start to doubt myself and worry about being histrionic. I did that capsule endoscopy patency exam, the capsule got stuck. My GI said there is some narrowing. Anyway, Iam doing somwwhat better. i got some color back my GI gets back in town tomorrow.

When I was waiting for my surgery I stayed on a "liquid" diet for weeks. You can drink cans of Ensure or Boost, you can have broths, yogurt, ice cream (if you can tolerate dairy) and you can get creative if you have a blender or food processor. You can take just about any food and add broth, milk, or water and put it in a blender or food processor and make a liquid out of it. I even did it with my noodle soups, scrambled eggs, etc. Of course the softer foods will be easiest to get down, but I even "liquified" a well cooked and tender chicken breast with a little broth.

The more liquified, the easier it passes, and the less chance of getting an obstruction and/or pain and nausea.

Ahhh, good idea. Thank you. My husband made a big batch of chicken noodle soup last night. That's what I will do. Thanks Judy, I really appreciate the advice.
