Prednisone and fast heartbeat?

You are about the same size I was when first diagnosed and taking 60mg daily. Yes, it can cause rapid heartbeat & the "shakes". I'm on lexapro as an antidepressant. I am not depressed. I take the lexapro in the morning with the prednisone and the lexapro seems to offset the pred hypers for me. When I taper, I have to cut down about 2.5mg every 2 weeks cause the joint pain & heart palpitations are too much for me. I might add I have no heart problems, but slightly elevated cholestrol prior to the CD diagnosis and cutting out all the fats from my diet.

Hi Tapering will probably help I had some problems but not alot. I am back on 20mgs and up at 5am at least I got some sleep when I was lowered and was off it for 2 weeks vacation.Nothing like getting a break. Hope the ativan works for you .Got quite a laugh out of the prize you sent out on the sailing poop . Your right we need a good laugh at times. lol gail

i started on 40 mgs/pred 3 1/2 weeks ago, i am at 30mg now and i shake like crazy, my muscles get fatigued very easy. i am also small framed, 4' 11 & 1/2", 110 lbs. (YES the 1/2 counts!) i was given ativan at the beginning of my diagnosis, do you find it helps with the shaking? i haven't felt a need to take it lately but if it helps with the shaking i might!
